LASER GENESISTM SKIN THERAPY
The Laser Genesis™ difference.
The Laser Genesis™ procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, naturally and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, and diffuse redness and scars. You can expect to see consistent results after each treatment. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.
What areas can be treated?
Laser Genesis™ patients report excellent results over their entire faces and necks.
Additionally, practitioners may suggest this therapy to diminish recent scars on other parts of the body.
What is diffuse redness?
Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness, such as rosey cheeks. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness, not discrete, well-defined vessels. The most commonly affected areas are the nose, forehead and cheeks.
Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and it can be hereditary. Laser Genesis will help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.
What does the procedure feel like?
Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure. You can immediately return to normal activities, utilizing sunscreen if participating in outdoor activities.
How does Laser Genesis work?
By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface, Laser Genesis™ improves the appearance of wrinkles through collagen stimulation. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness.
What can I expect before the treatment?
You will not need gel, anesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment. Before the actual Laser Genesis™ treatment, you will be asked to remove your make-up or moisturizers and, in some cases, you may be asked to shave the area to be treated. Your physician will review and assist with all pre-treatment requirements.
What kind of improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?
Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis™ can help restore the skin’s youthful glow and appearance.
The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic.
• Safely and gently treat diffuse redness
• Fades acne scarring
• Continuously stimulates new collagen production
• Reduces the appearance of fine lines
• Naturally promotes a healthy look
How many treatments will I need?
On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient’s condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your physician.
What are the possible side effects?
Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your physician for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.
CUTERA LASER VEIN THERAPY
The Cutera Laser difference.
The Cutera Laser combines the ideal laser wavelength with the
most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser system. It treats a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results.
How does Cutera Laser Vein Therapy work?
The Cutera Laser delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.
Who can be treated with the
Cutera Laser?
The Cutera Laser features a unique design and long wavelength that allows the treatment of patients of all skin tones. Your physician will advise you if Cutera Laser Vein Therapy is right for you.
What types of veins can be treated?
The Cutera Laser can remove unsightly veins from all parts
of the body. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your physician will help you determine which vessels can be treated
and the best course of treatment.
How does this compare to Sclerotherapy?
Your doctor will advise you on the best course of action, but many physicians and patients prefer Cutera Laser Vein Therapy because there are no painful injections.
What about blood blisters and port wine stains?
Blood blisters or “hemangiomas” respond very well to Cutera Laser treatment, usually with just one session. Patients with port wine stains and other vascular lesions who had given up on finding a solution have been overwhelmed by the success of their Cutera
Laser vascular treatments. Consult your physician for a thorough evaluation.
How many treatments will I need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, colour, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary,
ask your medical professional about your specific condition.
Do the treatments hurt?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
What happens after the treatment?
Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur.
When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment. Patients who have leg vein treatments may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.
What are the possible side effects?
Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
When will I see results?
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cutera Laser.
LIMELIGHT FACIAL™
Treatment of Skin Redness, Tiny Veins, Brown Spots and Sun Damage
What is the LimeLight Facial™?
The LimeLight Facial™ is a new, non-invasive approach to skin revitalization using the Cutera® LimeLight™. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage.
What areas can be treated?
The LimeLight Facial™ is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment.
What does the treatment do?
By selecting Program A, B or C, your practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial™ to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes
the therapeutic effect.
What do treatments feel like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. The gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments.
Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required.
How long will the treatments take?
Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour.
How many treatments will I need?
One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.
When will I see the results?
Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.
Will the spots and redness reappear over time?
New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however, they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however, its appearance can be improved.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
The exact number of treatments differs on a case-by-case basis. It may take up to 4 treatments or more. This depends on your personal desire for correction.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser hair removal aids in the reduction of your hair growth cycle.
During hair growth, there are four stages. When we apply selective photothermolysis to the anagen stage of that hair growth cycle, we are selectively destroying the hair follicle.
This is achieved by the laser being attracted to a target chromophore. This is what we call melanin of pheomelanin. For successful reduction to occur you will need to have a minimum of 6 to 8 treatments. The reason behind this is that the anagen stage for our active hair growth is always at different stages, therefore we are waiting for the dormant stage of hair growth to become active again. It is vital that we are interrupting the blood supply to that hair follicle and this is how we achieve selective photothermolysis.
